It's Championship Monday!

For the first time in franchise history the Dallas Mavericks won the NBA championship this year! Was a great series and very exciting to watch them beat the team that was predicted to win the whole thing in four games.  Mavericks win!

The interesting thing that everyone is speaking about isn't so much how great the players are (they are good, don't get me wrong), but how they worked as a team and got the job done.  They all picked up where one left off and got the job done.  Once again, teamwork is the key...a good management lesson for the day.

Smile:  What did I smile about today?
I smiled as I realized that I didn't need to go into the office and rolled over in my bed and decided to sleep in a little longer and work from home today....love that I can occasionally do that!

Celebrate:  What did I celebrate today?
I celebrate that I actually got several things crossed off my to-do list and feel like I got some things accomplished today..a feeling that I haven't had in a while

Love:  What do I love?
Besides reality TV?  I love my home.  It's not huge, not a mansion, but it's mine.  I love that it's comfortable, it's clean, it's safe, it's just big enough for me.  I love that I enjoy being here and appreciate the comforts it provides me.  I'm very blessed and very fortunate.  Thank you God!

Just checkin' in...

HI everyone,

Have been super- duper busy lately and haven't been able to spend much time doing fun things like posting to this blog, which has become my creative outlet.  Between work, working out and dealing with the home renovation, I've been quite the busy bee.  I need to take time to just breathe and stop and smell the roses a little.  Am hoping that this weekend I can do a little of that...we'll see if that happens...oh wait..I just remembered I have to babysit.  Well, guess I won't be stopping for a little while!

I'll post more later on...in the mean time, enjoy this:

If that doesn't make you smile, I just don't know what will.   Still looking for that special guy to come to save me when the stars fall from the sky...rescue me when the tide gets too high and to hold me through the night...he's out there somewhere...Patience grasshopper..patience!

In the midst of progress...

Before
After

I've been living in a bit of clutter for the last few days as the demo has begun on my bath and kitchen!  Fortunately I have two other bathrooms to shower in but now, I have no kitchen and no sink to wash anything in (not to mention, no faucet!).  I'm hoping that all this will be done in a few days and am anxious to get this done!  I'm hoping that everything I pick out will all go together!  I'm really worried about that...I guess I'll know more on Tuesday!  *Fingers Crossed*

Smile:  What have I smiled about lately?

My sweet sister came to visit us this weekend and it was good to see her smile and spend some time with she and my brother and his family.  We had lots of laughs and many good moments with each other.  I love spending time with my siblings and had a great weekend with them sharing stories and fellowshipping with one another.  We are very blessed that we have each other through the good and bad times--I'm a very lucky girl!

Celebrate:  What do I celebrate?
I signed up again for my favorite work out class at the gym--Team Weight Loss!  I found out my favorite trainer that I got the most results from is now teaching at my gym and once I heard that I decided to sign up again for the class.  I hope that it will kick me into gear and help me see results that I haven't really seen over the last few weeks!  The class takes place on the treadmill and is mostly interval training and heart rate training.  It's a great way to burn lots of calories and really changed my way of working out. I'm excited to begin this class and am happy to be in the gym three times (at least) a week!

Love:  What do I love?
Other than my family...I love that I bit the bullet and bought an ipad.  I was feeling a little left out on my business trips since everyone else on the plane seemed to be enjoying watching movies via their ipad or reading books and I didn't have one...Tracy was selling hers, and made me a good deal.  I can't wait to travel again!  --well, that may be taking it too far..I'll enjoy my next business trip more --that's more like it!

Thought for the day:  I believe in miracles. I look for miracles. And so I see and experience them often.

Have a good week!

There's no place like home!

I had to travel to Richmond, VA for a three-hour meeting. While that may seem like it’s a waste of money and not the best use of time, I have to beg to differ. I was meeting with people I didn’t know and rather than try to spend time in a long, boring conference call, where I would have been the only one on the phone, I chose to attend the meeting. The trip…well, was typical business travel, however the relationships I built in the three-hour meeting I hope to prove invaluable, so all in all, it was worth the hassle! There were a few adventures I encountered along the way that made me try to keep my focus on less complaining and more being thankful, although, that was challenging at 4 AM in the morning when a group of young college kids were running up and down the hotel hallway slamming doors. I had to really keep my attitude in check!

Smile: What made me smile today?

Today, I proved to myself, once again, how critical it is to smile. I had just left one meeting and had to drive to another location for another meeting. I’m wasn’t sure exactly where I was going, had a hard time finding a parking place, and was running late. I’m not very familiar with this office so it’s always a little stressful wondering if where I’m heading is where I need to be. I also had a lot on my mind as I was walking from the car carrying my heavy lap top bag, purse and trying to manage the cold day. I knew that my facial expression was less than pretty, especially when I saw someone looking at me, studying my demeanor. It took me a minute to notice her looking at me for me to catch myself and realize that I needed an attitude check. At that moment, I just put a huge smile across my face and said hello to this stranger. She smiled back and I think perhaps I may have made her day, as she helped to change my mindset and attitude. It helped set the stage for the rest of my afternoon and gave me the little umph that I needed to turn my day around!

Celebrate: What do I celebrate today?

I celebrate my wonderful, quiet home! After spending most of the night listening to kids happy to all be back together after Christmas break, celebrating someone’s 21st birthday last night, I’m happy to be home, in my clean house, with fresh sheets and a quiet evening. I’m looking for a good night’s rest and thankful that I don’t have to hear doors slam, girls yelling and lots of loud talking outside my door! What a night I had last night! So happy to be home!

Love: What do I love?

I love getting upgraded! I have had to travel a lot over the last year and have elite status with American Airlines, which from time to time allows me to get upgraded to first class. Tonight was one of those times, so I enjoyed a more comfortable seat, a half way decent meal, a glass of wine and a blanket that I could use to get some rest on the flight home. While business travel is not all that glamorous as it may seem to some people, I’m thankful for those small rewards that come with it every once and a while!
